Madrid City Council

The City Council and the community of Madrid will have a stand at FITUR 2012, organizing it in a way together this year for the first time, the Exhibitor to attend FITUR 2012 will have more than 2,000 square meters and will move to IFEMA Pavilion 9. 2012 FITUR international tourism fair, is the event’s most important tourism which takes place in Spain, and is positioned between the first two in the world, next to the ITB in Berlin. The collaboration of both public institutions and the joint organization of the stand within the current scenario of budgetary constraints, has enabled to reduce costs, since both the Madrid and the Madrid City Council have reduced 20% space they had in Fitur. The presence in Fitur aims at promoting, both national and international, Madrid tourism, as a lever for effective development in the development and competitiveness of entrepreneurial activity. Therefore, the stand, located in Hall 9 of IFEMA, prevail the commercial aspect of the fair, and will focus on three great products: culture, shopping and gastronomy. The design of the Exhibitor, in which two administrations have been coordinated is a joint proposal of the space based on the colors white and black, that will be reused on subsequent tourism fairs. An austere design has sought in its image and manufacturing.

In addition, the budget provided by traditional food from Madrid, through the Madrid Visitors & Convention Bureau (Madrid VCB) company, is co-financed at 50% by the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF). The common space is structured in three exhibition areas in which the main tourist products are displayed: culture, shopping and gastronomy. Exhibitors-shaped pencil box in which you can find all colors and possible shades, message applicable also to the Madrid tourism, where visitors can always choose what they like. During the fair, community and City Hall jointly held various acts, including the delivery of prizes to the best restaurants in Madrid, the presentation of the guide of the Association of hoteliers and hotels, as well as the day of Madrid, which will be held on Thursday, January 20. The culture zone is represented by the three major museums in Madrid (Museo del Prado, Museo Thyssen and Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofia); by other cultural, such as Caixa Forum and the Fundacion Dos de Mayo spaces; by musicals, such as the Lion King; and by two big Madrid football teams, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
